Marion the Magnet's First Mission
by Sharon Hackleman

The next day, Marion returned to school, ready to teach the children Step Two of his ‘easy as 1-2-3, think it to be’ magnetic lesson.

“Did anyone see what they thought about yesterday?” he asked.

Almost everyone’s hand went up in the air.

Marion noticed Katie’s hands were still in her lap.

“Katie, did you see what you wanted?” Marion asked.

“I guess so-if I want our gas turned off, my family kicked out of our apartment, and for all of us to become homeless!”

“Is that what you wanted, Katie?” Marion asked.

“No,” Katie’s eye started to tear. “I want my dad to find a new job. But he’s been out of work for three months and he’s ready to give up! Soon we’ll be out on the street with everything we own.”

Marion walked over and touched Katie’s shoulder. “I can see your problem. And I think I can help.”

“When you thought about what you wanted, did you think about how bad it feels when your dad isn’t working or how good it feels when he is?”

“How can I not think about how bad it is?” she muttered. “It’s just so hopeless.”

“This is a common mistake on Earth,” Marion said gently. “People think more about what they don’t want and then they attract it.”

“You mean if I want to help my Dad find a job, I need to think about how good it feels when he is working?” Cassie asked.

“Yes! Marion exclaimed. “Remember children, you get what you think about, so think happy thoughts.”

“Now, on to Step Two - Daydreaming about what you want until you feel like you already have it!”” Marion said.

“Daydreaming? In class?!” The children gasped.

“Yes, daydreaming is a very important part of using your magnetic powers!” Marion said.
